From School holiday activities, to forums and theatrical performances there is plenty to enjoy, taste, learn and experience. The world is our oyster! MONKS OF TIBET: MAKING A SAND MANDALAAs part of our exploration of what it means to be Indigenous to a place and how culture can be practised outside our place of origin, we have invited the Tibetan community to share with us insights on what it means to carry your culture with you wherever you find yourself.
Witness Venerable Geshe Nyima Dorjee and Geshe Losang Dhonyoe, Tibetan monks now teaching in New Zealand, create a stunningly beautiful sand mandala. Beautifully detailed and highly symbolic, the sand mandala can take many days to complete. Only in the last few decades has this ancient sacred art been brought out of the monasteries for all to witness.
