As part of our Windows to the World program for 2018 we are pleased to partner with ACPA (Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts), Queensland Writers Centre, Queensland Ballet, QAGOMA (Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art), Queensland Museums Network and Arts Queensland to present a range of opportunities for Scenic Rim communities.
SCENIC RIM WRITERS GROUP AND QUEENSLAND WRITERS CENTRE
Writers from around the Scenic Rim are welcome to join this group who meet the first Tuesday of every month from 10am to 2pm at The Centre Beaudesert. The objectives of the group are to hold writing events and workshops to build skills, support each other and develop networks. QWC provide a mentoring role to the group and assist with editing, masterclasses and publications. SCENIC RIM HERITAGE NETWORK AND QUEENSLAND MUSEUMS NETWORKThe Scenic Rim Heritage Network is open to community museums, heritage groups and volunteers. They are supported by the Scenic Rim Regional Council’s Heritage Project Officer and by representatives from the Queensland Museums Network. Meetings are held quarterly at museums around the Scenic Rim. The Heritage Network have been instrumental in the development of accurate signage for our Vibrant Towns and Villages project and are working with the Queensland Museums Network on the development of significant heritage trails across the region. ABORIGINAL CENTRE FOR PERFORMING ARTS
Scenic Rim Regional Council supports the development of young Indigenous performers through a strategic partnership with the Aboriginal Centre for Performing Arts (ACPA) delivering workshops in dance, music and acting. BANGARRA REKINDLING AND CREATIVE GENERATIONWe continue our ongoing relationship with the Bangarra Rekindling program and the Department of Education and Trainings Creative Generation (CGEN) program and extend these opportunities for our local schools in 2018. Fine art and craft workshops will be given by noted Scenic Rim artists. Join other creatives and immerse yourself in hands-on workshops including pottery, natural textile dyeing and traditional cultural weaving. STEEL ART WORKSHOP - "Hold the Hammer Upside Down"
To be held 20-21 January 2018, this two day workshop is designed for existing artists interested in expanding their medium to include steel or steel workers who wish to extend their skills to include steel art pieces suitable for public display. |
